Dr. David Gardner

Dr. Gardner has practiced veterinary medicine at Alburnett Veterinary Service for over 30 years.  A native Iowan, Dr. Gardner received his DVM degree from Iowa State University in 1983.  Dr. Gardner and his wife, Sue, live in rural Alburnett with their dogs Gracie, Willie and Gus and Emma the cat.  Occasional residents are children Sara, Ellen and Ross who are in various stages of their educations and careers. Dr. Gardner has been active in veterinary groups, serving for several years on the boards of directors of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Association and was a past office holder in the Linn County Veterinary Association.  He enjoys spending free time outside or tinkering on old gadgets he has accumulated over the years.

Dr. Michael Halsor

Dr. Halsor has practiced veterinary medicine at Alburnett Veterinary Service since graduating from Iowa State University in 1989.  Dr. Halsor is a native of the Cedar Rapids area and he and his wife, Linda reside in rural Center Point with their Labrador Otis.  They have two grown children, Madeleine and Sam. He is a long-standing member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Association and has been active in local veterinary groups.  Dr. Halsor enjoys the outdoors, especially annual trips to Canada and the Great Lakes.  He is also an avid trapshooter.


Dave is a Registered Veterinary Technician and has worked at AVS since 1989.  He has five “grown’ children, three grandchildren and a menagerie of animals including four dogs, numerous outdoor cats, a horse, a turkey, Muscovey ducks, guineas, peafowl and chickens.


Sherri has worked at AVS for over 20 years as a veterinary assistant and receptionist and almost anything else we ask of her.  Her animal family includes dogs Taz and Boo as well as three cats- Forest, Sabrina and Salem.


Kathy has been at AVS since 1991.  She is a Registered Veterinary Technician and can handle any task we ask of her (except reaching high things).  She is owned by a Pomerian, a Cairn Terrier, a Golden Retriever, three cats and four Spanish Mustangs.  She is married and has two daughters.


Dee has been a Registered Veterinary Technician at AVS since 2009. She has been a vet tech since 2002 and had worked in veterinary medicine since 1994.  She has three cats- Kera, Atticus and Leo as well as two Great Danes- Triton and Frozen.


Tammy has been a veterinary assistant at AVS since 2009.  Tammy grew up on a family farm and knew she wanted to work with animals since childhood.  She began her career in veterinary medicine in 1987.  She is a 4-H volunteer and a coach for the Springville Archery Club.  In her spare time, Tammy likes to hunt, fish and watch her daughter play softball and show cattle.


Karen has been helping us keep the clinic clean and tidy and keeping our patients and boarders fed, watered, exercised and happy since 2000.


Karla has been with us a vet assistant and kennel person since November 2015, but brings with her several years of experience at other clinics in the area.
